NDSCS Women’s Basketball Secures Second Straight Conference Title

The #16 NDSCS women's basketball team secured a 65-41 win over Lake Region on Monday Feb. 12 to clinch their second straight conference title. The Wildcats also traveled to Williston State on Thursday Feb. 15 to grab a 76-30 road win and improved to 11-0 in conference play.


NDSCS went into half time with a close score against Lake Region only up 30-22, but came out and dominated with a 22-8 run in the third quarter and never looked back grabbing a 65-41 win.


Abby Johnson and Lauren Johnson both led the way for the Wildcats with 10 points apiece. Abby Johnson and Mine Porte also each led the team with five rebounds on the night. The Wildcats improved to 10-0 in conference play with the win.


NDSCS hit the road to Williston State and breezing through with a 76-30 road victory. The Wildcats were only up 14-10 after the first quarter, with pressure defense the Lady Wildcats handled the next three quarters with a 62-20 win.


Mine Porte led the way with 23 points and six rebounds, while Abby Johnson added 14 points.


With the wins this week, the Wildcats clinched their second straight conference title and will host the Region XIII Tournament March 3-4 at the Blikre Activities Center. The Lady Wildcats will finish conference play on Monday Feb. 19 on the road at Dakota College at Bottineau with a start time of 5:30 PM.
