The North Dakota State College of Science women's basketball team captured their second straight Region XIII Championship on Sunday and will host Highlands CC (Ill.) this Saturday March. 10th with the winner going to the NJCAA National Tournament.
The Wildcats started the Region XIII tournament facing up against Dawson CC. It was a close score of 40-32 going into half time, but the fourth quarter is what sealed the deal for the Wildcats going on a 13-2 run to win 76-55.
Five Lady Wildcats were in double figures with Sophomore Dayuna Johnson leading the way with 17 points. Freshman's Mina Porte added 14 points Abby Johnson contributed 13 points and Lauren Johnson had 10 points.
Olivia Bell dominated the paint with a game-high 12 points and grabbed six boards to the Wildcats 76-55 victory against Dawson.
NDSCS matched up with Lake Region in the Region XIII Championship on Sunday March 4th. The Wildcats won their second straight Region XIII Championship winning a close battle 45-42.
NDSCS jumped out to an early 16- 2 lead after the first quarter, but Lake Region battled back only being down 25-16 going into half time.
Freshman Olivia Bell secured a game-high 11 boards on the night.
The Wildcats will now host Highlands CC (Ill.) in the District Championship on Saturday March. 10th with a 12 pm start time. The winner of this game will be seeded in the national tournament. The seeding for the national tournament will be released on March 12.
