North Dakota State College of Science sophomore Damien Gordon was named the Mon-Dak Conference Player of the Week after opening Mon-Dak Conference action with an impressive pair of games.
The 6-foot-4 Crystal, Minnesota native helped guide the Wildcats to a 2-0 mark to start conference play. NDSCS topped Williston State and Miles, two of the preseason favorites to win the league. Gordon's week saw him score 34 points and grab 11 rebounds, shooting 55 percent from the field and 55 percent from 3-point range. This includes a career-high 24 points in an 87-73 win at Miles. That performance saw Gordon knock down 9 of his 10 field goal attempts, including going 3-for-4 from distance. Dating back to the Preseason Mon-Dak Conference Tournament, Gordon has reached double figures in four of his five games against league opponents.
Gordon is averaging 10 points and 5.1 rebounds on the season, shooting 56 percent from the field, 38 percent from 3 and 82 percent from the free throw line. He also leads NDSCS in charges taken.
It is his first time winning the conference player of the week honor this season.
